We were delighted with the success of the evening and judging by the many kind messages we received from those able to attend, we believe that the event was a really entertaining and enjoyable night out for all.
Some of the highlights were:
- The presence of Harold Davies, renowned international show host. His skills as an Italian t.v. presenter and his charisma were highly appreciated by all our guests.www.harolddavies.com
- The Beatles tribute band, V.A.G.H.I. (from Sardinia!) playing 'Help' and 'A Hard Day's Night' with William Ogden who received a cochlear implant as a young boy and is now studying for his music A-level
- Leonard Johnson with his remarkable voice singing numbers such as ‘My Way’ and great hits like ‘Celebration’ from his days with Kool and the Gang
- A hilarious and surprisingly co-ordinated (but distinctly hairy) extract from Swan Lake performed by some local dads, and lots of impromptu dancing between the tables.
With the help of very generous donors, the auction and the raffle prizes were snapped up very quickly with guests being able to travel the world with destinations like South Africa, Barcelona, Paris and much more on offer.
Monies raised from this event were donated to the Ear Foundation to benefit an educational programme for their nursery. Since its formation, the Ear Foundation has achieved a great deal in the establishment of a clinical programme, the education and training of professionals and research into the effect of cochlear implantation.
